The current context of political and institutional relations between the two countries has reached unprecedented levels on the occasion of the successful state visit to Italy by H.E. Nguyen Minh Triet, President of Vietnam and by H.E. Pham Gia Khiem, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, which took place last december with the participation of over 90 vietnamese companies and businesses. Over the last two years, italian investment in Vietnam has doubled though it still falls short, in absolute terms, with the potential of our two economies and with our joint expectations. Progress in bilateral trade was also recently possible, despite the global downturn, as Italy rose in 2009 from 19th to 17th major trading partner of  Vietnam. 2010 looks promising both for business and cultural relations, as the vietnamese economy resumes its fast pace and prepares to celebrate the millennium of the foundation of Hanoi, which will also see the organization of italian events in culture, arts and music throughout the year in Vietnam.

Against this backdrop, the website of the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi aims to offer a range of services adding our own contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
